Kirkcaldy Area Sports Council launched the 2009 Annual Sports Awards at our recent Annual General Meeting.
The Awards are scheduled for February 2010 and the Sports Council is looking for nominations.
In a change from last year’s event, nominations for Sports Personality of the Year will come from the general public. The shortlisted nominees for Sports Personality of the Year are now detailed in the Fife Press Press which is currently open for voting by the general public.
George MacDonald, the newly elected Chairman of the Sports Council said,
“This is an exciting time for the Sports Council. In only our second year of organising the awards, we are asking the general public to become involved in asking them to come up with the nominations and then be the ones who vote to select the eventual winner.
“The Awards Ceremony and the new voting system for the Sports Personality of the Year has only been made possible through our work with the Fife Free Press and with the generosity of our sponsors Adam Smith College, ACA Sports, Sports Tayside & Fife, Fife Sport & Leisure Trust, PLM Optometrists, Fife Free Press and Fife Police.”
The Sports Council are also excited about the introduction of a new team award – a Junior/Youth Team Award, which will be open to teams whose members are under 21 years of age on 31 December 2009. Nomination forms for this award and the other categories will be available from ACA Sports, Kirkcaldy Area Sports Council’s web site and in the Fife Free Press from Thursday 26 November 2009. Nomination forms for all categories for the Kirkcaldy Area Sports Council can be downloaded using the links on the left of this article.
The award winners and runners-up will be announced at the Awards Evening due to be held on Thursday 25 February 2010.
